Kevin Durant: (Ankle) Hoping To Play Friday

Durant said the sprained ankle that forced him out of Thursday's loss to the Warriors isn't serious, and he hopes to play Friday against the Lakers, The Oklahoman reports.

Analysis:

After lighting up the Warriors for 30 points on 10-for-13 shooting as the first half was winding down, Durant suffered the ankle injury when he stepped on Marreese Speights' foot. He remained in the locker room after halftime and didn't return, but was fortunate to have only been diagnosed with a minor sprain after X-rays came back negative. Durant said the decision to keep him out for the rest of Thursday's game was mostly for precautionary purposes, since the injury occurred on the same foot that previously required surgery in October. The Thunder will reexamine Durant's ankle Friday morning before making a decision on his status for the game later that evening.
