Warriors' Bogut: 'Steve Kerr's turned around my career'

Steve Kerr's first few weeks on the job in Golden State couldn't have gone much better, and now one of his players is heaping on the praise.

While Andrew Bogut's production out of the gate hasn't changed much from the last couple of seasons, the Warriors center sounds thrilled about how he's being deployed in Kerr's system.

"Having a coach that has the confidence in me, even with the scorers in Steph (Curry) and Klay (Thompson), to say, 'We want you to be aggressive and look for your own shot', it does wonders for my game," Bogut told Australia's SEN1116 AM, as quoted by The Age.

"It's huge, I'm a huge confidence player and I think Steve Kerr's been unbelievable so far," Bogut added.

"They're running me in the high post a lot more and utilizing my passing and it's been great so far. Steve Kerr's turned around my career and getting me back involved offensively, too, helps."

Bogut's scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks have remained consistent, but his touches and assists have noticeably increased so far under Kerr.

In fact, Bogut's 5.2 assists per 100 possessions through 10 games this season would represent a career high for the Australian big man, and he went from getting 40.7 touches per game last season to 56.3 touches per game this year, according to NBA.com.

With Bogut happy, and Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson establishing themselves as the clear cut No. 1 backcourt in the league, Kerr has constructed an offense that ranks No. 7 in offensive rating right now.

Couple that with a top-three defense, and the Warriors are off to an impressive 8-2 start.
