LeBron James, Dan Gilbert now share 'very solid' relationship

Four years after LeBron James' decision to leave Cleveland for Miami, time - and a celebrated reunion - have helped James and Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert bury the hatchet.

"I think it's really good," James said Wednesday of his relationship with Gilbert, who famously penned a scathing letter about James in the wake of his departure for the Heat.

"We had one bad moment, and it just overshadowed all the great times we had together, and now we're back together," James added.

"We both have something in common: That's to bring a championship back to this city, and that's what it comes down to. That's what our thrive is, that's what our drive is, and we have an opportunity and we have an obligation to represent this team and this franchise the right way."

Cleveland hasn't won a major sports championship since the Browns won the NFL title in 1964.

As for Gilbert - who incorrectly guaranteed the Cavs would win a championship before the James ever would in Miami - he's not going to make any guarantees about his new star-studded team.

"I learned my lessons on guarantees and predictions and stuff," Gilbert said.

"So I don't do much of that anymore these days. I do believe we put together a team and a coaching staff and a front office that's worked very hard certainly to put us in a position to compete at a high level. That's why you play the games."

While James and the Heat won two championships in four years and advanced to four straight Finals, Gilbert's Cavaliers never won more than 33 games in a season during that time.

Gilbert said Wednesday that his relationship with LeBron "is very good, very solid."
