Perkins (quad) sustained a quad injury and will miss the start of training camp, Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman reports.

Analysis:

The big man will be reevaluated in two weeks, at which point it will be determined whether he's ready to ramp up his activity during camp. While Perkins will almost certainly be ready for the regular season, the setback could give Steven Adams the upper hand in the battle for the starting center spot. Perkins has the veteran edge, but he was much maligned for his play last season and Adams is indisputably more active on both ends of the floor.
