Report: Mavericks' Felton to be suspended 4 games for gun charges

Newly-acquired Mavericks point guard Raymond Felton will reportedly miss the first four games of the upcoming NBA season after he pleaded guilty to a felony gun possession charge in a Manhattan court last month.

The charge dates back to Feb. 25, when Felton, then a member of the New York Knicks, had an unlicensed firearm handed over to police by his ex-wife.

Felton's plea deal kept him out of jail, so in the grand scheme of things, the NBA's four-game suspension seems a small price to pay.

He was also sentenced to 500 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine.
