Aldridge has opted to withdraw from consideration for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, CSN Northwest reports.

Analysis:

Leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games, hip surgery conspired to stifle his chances to represent his country on the world stage, but Aldridge merely cited rest as the culprit on this occasion. While director of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo hasn't closed the door on Aldridge's future chances of donning the red, white, and blue, the power forward's wishy-washy commitment to the national team hasn't endeared himself to the process. With the decision made to focus on his own game in the offseason, Aldridge will look to build upon career-highs of 23.2 points and 11.1 boards per game in 2013-14.
