Josh McRoberts: Verball Commits To Join Heat

McRoberts verbally committed to sign with the Miami Heat on Monday, ESPN reports.

Analysis:

The Heat have apparently beat out the Hornets for McRoberts' services, as both teams were heavily interested in the versatile wing. McRoberts emerged as a key cog for the then-Bobcats over the past two seasons, averaging better than eight points and six rebounds over that span while carving out a niche as a big man with a reliable three-point stroke. Assuming the deal goes through, McRoberts' role with the Heat is unknown at this time. If LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade return, he'll be a role player, but if the Big Three split up, McRoberts could end up as one of the more relied-upon scorers.
