Report: Clippers shopping No. 28, looking to acquire help on the perimeter

The Los Angeles Clippers' search for a somewhat competent wing player carries on.

Dan Woike of the Orange County Register is reporting that the Clippers are looking to upgrade on the wing with a solid veteran. They're reportedly dangling the 28th pick to acquire one, and have Charlotte Hornets guard Gerald Henderson and New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert in mind.

Both Henderson and Shumpert fit similar profiles as solid wing defenders with the ability to handle the ball and knock down spot-ups. Shumpert, when healthy, is a better three-point shooter, but Henderson would add more scoring punch overall with his mid-range game.

In order to add either Shumpert or Henderson, the Clippers would have to attach some outgoing salary to balance the deal. Henderson is owed $6 million next season, while Shumpert is owed $1.7. 

Between the two, acquiring Shumpert appears to be more likely. The Knicks have reportedly shopped Shumpert in previous weeks seeking a first-rounder in return.
