Report: Carmelo Anthony to visit Rockets, Mavericks, Bulls when free agency begins

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Soon-to-be free-agent small forward Carmelo Anthony has decided to visit the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, and Chicago Bulls once teams are permitted to meet with free agents on July 1, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

The meetings have not been set up because the teams are not yet allowed to contact free agents. But Anthony has decided he will give those three teams a chance to recruit him when they are able to.

While there has been speculation that Chicago is at the top of Anthony's list of potential destinations, one source said there is no true favorite in his mind.

The report goes on to say that a return to the Knicks remains a viable option for Anthony. New York can offer him $33 million more than any other team.

While the Los Angeles Lakers are not currently one of the teams Anthony is scheduled to meet with, Kobe Bryant is expected to make a strong push to bring Anthony to the West Coast. Bryant informed ESPN that he plans to met with Anthony as well.

The report also indicates that there have been no specific talks between Anthony and the Miami Heat about joining LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh next season.
