The Medina police issued a statement on the arrest of Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham on Monday, saying that Cunningham sent threatening text messages to his live-in girlfriend that "rose to a terroristic level."

Cunningham was arrested on Sunday for what was said at the time to be a suspicion of terrorist threats, and he was held without bail. He had also been arrested on Thursday, charged with felony domestic assault and released on $40,000 bail.

The 26-year-old Cunningham remains in custody but has reportedly not been charged with a second offense. He is scheduled for a court appearance Monday afternoon in relation to the assault charges, but it is unclear if that schedule may change given his second arrest.

The NBA's collective bargaining agreement requires the team and league to allow Cunningham to work while the legal process plays out, so Cunningham could re-join the team if he is released.
