Alec Burks' personal 9-0 run late seals win for Jazz

There is "that player" for a lot of people. You can't describe why, you know it doesn't make objective sense, but there he is, and you think he's better than you know he is. And so you root for him and hang on to the successes.

For us, that player is Alec Burks.

It's really tough to explain, because he's such a completely average player. His player efficiency rating and true shooting percentage are almost exactly league average, he averages just 13.2 points and there are 56 other players averaging at least 13 points, three rebounds and 2.5 assists, as Burks is.

But there he is, and we think he's better than we know he is. And so we root for him. And we'll certainly hang on to this success.

On Wednesday night, Burks went on a personal 9-0 run in the fourth quarter against the Philadelphia 76ers, helping to propel the Utah Jazz to a 105-100 victory. From the 1:55 mark to the 0:22 mark, nobody scored in this game except for Burks, who had a pair of driving layups, three free throws and then an open-court jam.

The score swung from 91-91 to 100-91. Game, Jazz, and they now have their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Burks would finish with a game-high 26 points on 6-of-10 shooting, giving him 50 points on just 21 field goal attempts over his past two games. Eat your heart out, Kevin Durant.
