Things got heated between LeBron James and Tristan Thompson late in Sunday's game.

The Cleveland Cavaliers teammates quarreled over a defensive lapse that allowed Indiana Pacers star Paul George to drill a 3-pointer with under 30 seconds remaining in the contest.

After his team held on for a 135-130 win in double overtime, James expressed regret over his outburst and shouldered the blame.

"I gotta do a better job of not showing up my teammates out on the floor," the 32-year-old told FOX Sports Ohio.

"I had the right intentions in my mind but I had the wrong intentions came out of my mouth, so I take full responsibility for that as the leader of the team. I gotta be a lot better with that and keep that in house, in the locker room."

Coach Tyronn Lue said it was a crucial possession that didn't go in Cleveland's favor, causing tempers to flare.

"That shows you that we care about our defense," he said in his postgame presser. "You like to see that passion. A lot of times, take it out on the other team, though. They both were mad and frustrated, which you want to see. We wanted to win that game. It was a big play. Some miscommunication right there. But they got over it."

Thompson also attributed the clash to a miscommunication, but wouldn't elaborate further.

"We family," he told reporters postgame. "We're family. A little miscommunication. Move forward. Move forward. We family. Got each other's back always. Move forward."

The Cavs remain a half-game back of the Boston Celtics for the East's top spot, with six games remaining in the regular season.
