Suns' Tyson Chandler: Shut down for season

Chandler (rest) isn't expected to play again over the rest of the season, Doug Haller of The Arizona Republic reports.

Analysis:

Despite the fact the Suns were without six other players due to injury in Sunday's loss to the Pistons, Chandler wasn't included in the Suns' rotation, which has been the case since the All-Star break. With the Suns well removed from playoff contention and content to evaluate their younger centers over the final three weeks of the season, Chandler doesn't really have a place in the team's plans. Considering that he has two years remaining on his contract after this season, Chandler may still open the 2017 campaign as the team's starting center if the Suns aren't able to trade him away in the summer. Alex Len and Alan Williams will split time at the position for the final three weeks of the campaign while Chandler gets an early start on his offseason.
