Carter confident he could beat Jordan in dunk contest in their primes

Vince Carter and Michael Jordan might be the two greatest to have ever thrown it down at the NBA's annual Slam Dunk contest.

If both players were in prime physical condition and going head to head in the competition, though, Carter is confident he'd outperform the league's unofficial G.O.A.T.

"I like me in the dunk contest. I can't step down from that one," Carter said during a recent appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show." "Greatest player of all time? I give it to Mike."

Jordan's competitive nature during his legendary tenure in the Association was unparalleled, and even to this day, the current Charlotte Hornets owner has maintained a similar desire to be the absolute best.

No wonder Carter prefers his proclamation doesn't make it back to Jordan.

"My legs are shivering over here," Carter joked. "I don't want to see Mike and he's like, 'Yo, you think you can outdunk me?'"

Jordan is one of six players - along with Dominique Wilkins, Harold Minor, Jason Richardson, Nate Robinson, and Zach LaVine - to have won the dunk contest multiple times. Carter hoisted the trophy in 2000 in Oakland, in perhaps the most memorable individual performance ever.
