Rockets' Eric Gordon: Likely headed back to bench Friday

Gordon is expected to move back to the bench for Friday's game against the Bulls, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

With Ryan Anderson (back) unavailable Wednesday against the Jazz, coach Mike D'Antoni went with a three-guard starting lineup featuring Gordon at shooting guard and James Harden at small forward. Gordon ended up logging a season-high 40 minutes in that contest and produced 14 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals and two three-pointers, but with Anderson on track to play Friday, it appears Gordon's stay on the top unit will be short lived. Even if he ends up settling back into his sixth-man role, Gordon should be in prime position to surpass the 30-minute mark, which he was able to do in the preceding two games before Wednesday's starting assignment.
