Bulls' Michael Carter-Williams: Could get waived

Carter-Williams (knee) could be waived by the Bulls, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Carter-Williams is dealing with some patellar tendinitis in his knee that will likely prevent him from playing Tuesday against the Nuggets and perhaps in some games to follow, but that appears to be the least of his worries for the time being. Instead, it's the Bulls' logjam at point guard that remains more troubling for Carter-Williams, who will likely find himself behind Jerian Grant, Rajon Rondo and Cameron Payne on the depth chart once he's healthy again. Since Carter-Williams is slated to become a restricted free agent this summer and has done little this season to justify a long-term commitment from the Bulls, it wouldn't be too surprising if the team decided to just wash their hands of the former Rookie of the Year completely in order to add depth at another position. Along with Carter-Williams, Isaiah Canaan, another non-rotation guard on an expiring deal, is also a candidate to get waived.
