Wizards' Beal clicking with Wall: We're 'proving it on the floor'

Brad Mills / USA Today Sports

After reports of the two players having a "tendency to dislike each other on the court," it seems Bradley Beal and backcourt mate, John Wall have found their sweet spot.

In August, there was a flood of news surrounding the two Washington Wizards teammates. Wall admitted the two didn't often see eye to eye on the court, and it often hurt the team dynamic. An NBA agent then came out of the woodwork to say the relationship between the two was five times worse than reported. With jealousy issues regarding salaries between the players, it seemed that a decline was inevitable this season - but that hasn't been the case.

With the success the Wizards have experienced over the past two months, the pair seems to be clicking, and Beal is tired of the continuous questioning about their relationship.

"I think it's (going) well," Beal said in an interview with ESPN Radio's NBA Insiders. "I think it's (going) really well. It's kind of getting old, people saying that we don't agree and that we don't click. We're just going out and proving it on the floor."

The two players are producing at a high level for Washington so far this season and have carried their squad to a 27-20 record, after starting the season 6-12. They're 11-2 in their last 13 games, and now sit 1.5 games back of the Toronto Raptors for third place in the Eastern Conference.

"We have fun and compete at a high level," Beal continued. "We consider ourselves the best backcourt in the league, so we just continue to prove ourselves, continue to compete and hold each other accountable and make sure that we continue to lead our team."

Leading the team is exactly what they're doing. Both players are having career years. Wall is one of only six players in the league averaging a 20-and-10 stat line, while Beal is posting career highs in points per game (21.8) and shooting percentage (46).
