Report: Nets open to trade talks for Hollis-Jefferson

USA Today Sports

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson's limitations on offense and the potential of rookie prospect Caris LeVert could ultimately make the Arizona alumnus expendable in the eyes of the Brooklyn Nets.

While the team doesn't appear to be shopping Hollis-Jefferson, all signs point toward the Nets at least being open to trade talks when calls are made concerning his availability, league sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe.

The 22-year-old's shooting, which was never a strength of his to begin with due to his flawed form, has taken a significant dip in efficiency during his sophomore season. He has an effective field-goal percentage of just 39.5 and is knocking down just 42 percent of his attempts from less than 10 feet, including 37.2 percent on pull-ups.

His value is predicated on him making an impact defensively on a roster that still ranks 27th in the Association on that end of the floor, giving up 108.2 points per 100 possessions. Hollis-Jefferson has the size to defend multiple positions. He's quick enough to be slotted in at the four - where he's played 20 percent of his minutes this season - and able to switch on screens and guard pick-and-rolls.

In 34 appearances, Hollis-Jefferson is averaging 7.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, two assists, and a steal for the league-worst 8-30 Nets.
