Lakers' D'Angelo Russell: To increase rehab workload

Russell (knee) is expected to ramp up his basketball activities over the next few days, Mike Trudell of Lakers.com reports.

Analysis:

The point guard was cleared for basketball activities earlier in the week, and he'll continue to increase his workload as he works back from a sore left knee. The Lakers have already ruled Russell out for their next two games Wednesday against the Rockets and Friday against the Suns, and coach Luke Walton said it's unlikely Russell will be available for Sunday's matchup with the Knicks. As such, it appears Russell is on track to return at some point during the team's upcoming seven-game road trip, which begins Monday in Sacramento versus the Kings.
