Celtics' Isaiah Thomas: Suffers groin injury Monday

Thomas pulled a groin in Monday's 107-106 loss to the Rockets and may not be able to practice Tuesday, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reports.

Analysis:

The injury doesn't seem to be overly serious, but the Celtics will likely afford every opportunity for their star point guard to rest and heal up before Wednesday's game against the Magic. For what it's worth, Thomas was still able to complete Monday's contest, but finished with 20 points (7-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three assists, two rebounds and two steals over 33 minutes, which represents an underwhelming stat line by his standards. The Celtics will reevaluate him Tuesday, but if Thomas is deemed unfit to play in the game against the Magic, Marcus Smart would likely enter the starting lineup in his stead, while Terry Rozier would pick up added minutes off the bench.
