Grizzlies' Zach Randolph: Out Friday due to death in family

Randolph won't play Friday against the Heat following the death of his mother, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

Randolph's mother passed away Thursday, so he'll be away from the team for at least one game while he mourns her loss. It remains unknown if he'll rejoin the Grizzlies in time for Saturday's rematch with the Heat, but given that he'd have to travel to Miami for that contest, it seems rather unlikely. Jarell Martin should benefit from added playing time off the bench for the duration of Randolph's absence.
