Mavericks' Andrew Bogut: Hopes to play Wednesday vs. Clippers

Bogut (calf) is hopeful to play in Wednesday's game against the Clippers, Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News reports. "I don't think it's much longer than [Wednesday]," Bogut said. "It's like a dead leg. I think two or three days, max. I'm hoping to play Wednesday, but I can't really run right now."

Analysis:

Bogut ended up sitting out Monday's loss to the Spurs due to a sore upper calf, which he sustained in the first quarter of Saturday's loss to the Magic, though it didn't prevent him from leaving that game early. Neither the center nor the Mavericks appear to view the issue as a major concern, but with the team already looking bound for the draft lottery after a 2-11 start, there's no need for Bogut to return at less than full health. He'll attempt to rest up for the next day before a determination on his status for Wednesday is made, but if he's ultimately ruled out against the Clippers, Salah Mejri would presumably pick up another start at center.
