Thunder's Semaj Christon: Makes regular season roster

Christon earned a spot Monday on the Thunder's 15-man roster, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

In order to hang on to the promising Christon, a 2014 second-round pick who spent the past two seasons in the D-League and the Italian Serie A Basketball League, respectively, the Thunder elected to waive veteran Ronnie Price. While the 33-year-old Price has a steadier track record as an NBA backup point guard, the Thunder determined that Christon's youthfulness and scoring instincts were too good to pass up. Christon will open the season as the top backup to Russell Westbrook, but could fall out of the rotation once Cameron Payne (foot) is cleared for a return.
