Rockets' Eric Gordon: In the starting lineup Wednesday

Gordon will move back into the starting lineup at shooting guard for Wednesday's preseason matchup with the Mavericks, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

Gordon came off the bench in the Rockets' previous game Saturday against the Grizzlies while Mike D'Antoni deployed K.J. McDaniels at shooting guard, but that was likely just an experimental move. With projected starter Patrick Beverley (knee) unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season, Gordon figures to slot in on the top unit at least temporarily, and could end up sticking there long term if he and James Harden thrive alongside one another. With two preseason games left on the schedule, Gordon and Harden should have a couple more opportunities to get acquainted with one another, but the early returns have already been promising for both players.
