Heat's Luke Babbitt: Ruled out for Tuesday

Babbitt (groin) has been ruled out for Tuesday's preseason matchup with the Magic, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

Babbitt was held out of contact during Monday's practice and despite going through Tuesday's morning shootaround, he was always expected to sit out the contest. He'll get a couple additional days off for recovery before potentially returning for the Heat's preseason finale Thursday against the Hornets. While coach Erik Spoelstra has yet to name a starting power forward for the start of the season, Derrick Williams is the presumed favorite, and Babbitt's injury will likely only further strengthen Williams' position at the top of the depth chart.
