Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Dealing with foot soreness

Gasol indicated that he's just dealing with some soreness in his right ankle, which forced him to exit early in Saturday's preseason loss to the Rockets, Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com reports. "[Gasol's] OK, he just got sore," coach David Fizdale said. "They will treat him [Sunday] and re-evaluate it, but I don't think it's anything to be worried about. At some point, we knew he was going to get sore, so we're expecting it to be fine."

Analysis:

Gasol underwent surgery last February after suffering a non-displaced fracture in the navicular bone in his right foot, which made Saturday's exit somewhat concerning. However, it appears fantasy owners can officially relax, as he didn't re-fracture the foot and is simply dealing with some minor pain. The Grizzlies could act cautiously by holding Gasol out of Wednesday's preseason finale against the Timberwolves, but he doesn't appear to be in danger of missing the start of the regular season.
