Warriors' JaVale McGee: Angling for final roster spot

McGee is one of a few players looking to nail down the Warriors' 15th and final roster spot, Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Analysis:

McGee brings all sorts of athleticism to the center position and his length (7-foot-8 wingspan) makes him an elite rim protector, so he makes for an appealing bench stash for the Warriors. Injuries have dogged him the last few years, but so has a penchant to lose focus during games. The Warriors play a lot of small ball and already have a few guys that can play center, but none protect the rim like McGee, who has averaged 3.2 blocks per 36 minutes over eight NBA seasons. Assistant coach Ron Adams has been working with McGee extensively during training camp in getting him to stay in proper defensive position instead of scripting himself to set up highlight-reel blocks.
