Celtics' Gerald Green: Won't play Thursday

Green (hip) won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Hornets, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reports.

Analysis:

Green is nearing a return from a hip flexor injury, but he'll be held out for a second straight game while he continues to receive more recovery time. He's closing in on a return, however, as coach Brad Stevens said the veteran will warm up prior to Thursday's game. If all goes well, there's a good chance that Green will be cleared to play in Saturday's rematch with the Hornets.
