76ers' Joel Embiid: Won't play in back-to-back sets this season

Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo confirmed Monday that Embiid (foot) won't play in back-to-back sets this season, Tom Moore of Calkins Media reports.

Analysis:

Considering Embiid has yet to play an NBA game while recovering from two procedures on his right foot since being drafted in 2014, it's no surprise that the 76ers will be restrictive with both his minutes and the amount of games he plays in 2016-17. At 7-foot-2 with great shot-blocking instincts and a soft shooting touch, Embiid has higher upside than anyone in the 76ers' loaded frontcourt, despite missing both of his first two professional seasons. For that reason, he'll make for an intriguing pickup in dynasty formats, but he's not as attractive in single-season leagues, where his volatile minutes and production figure to dampen his fantasy value.
