Pacers' Lavoy Allen: May not be included in rotation

Pacers coach Nate McMillan said at Monday's media day that he would prefer to utilize a nine- or 10-man rotation this season, which may not include Allen, Scott Agness of Viligant Sports reports. "[Allen's] got to make me play him," McMillan said.

Analysis:

A favorite of former coach Frank Vogel for his strong defensive effort at both frontcourt spots, Allen appeared in 79 games last season and averaged 5.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in 20.2 minutes per game. However, with McMillan taking over and the Pacers adding Thaddeus Young and Al Jefferson this offseason to a frontcourt that includes up-and-coming center Myles Turner, it doesn't look as though many opportunities will be available for Allen. The 27-year-old could be relegated to mop-up duty at the end of non-competitive games or as a fill-in option when Young, Jefferson or Turner succumb to an injury or foul trouble.
