Thunder's McGary suspended additional 10 games for drug violation

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Mitch McGary has been suspended 10 games by the NBA for violation of its Anti-Drug Program, the league confirmed Tuesday. This suspension comes after an initial five-game ban, levied on him in July.

The latest suspension was first reported by The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

As a result, the power forward will sit out a total of 15 games without pay to start the 2016-17 season.

The latest violation is not another positive test, Wojnarowski reports, but rather a failure to meet guidelines set forth by the league's drug policy. The Thunder will likely now look to part ways with McGary, according to Wojnarowski.

The 21st pick of the 2014 draft out of Michigan, the burly power forward is no stranger to failed drug tests. Prior to what would have been his junior season in Ann Arbor, McGary tested positive for marijuana and faced a one-year suspension. He entered the NBA Draft instead.

The 24-year-old averaged just 1.3 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.2 assists in 20 games for the Thunder last season.
