Former National Basketball Players Association executive director Billy Hunter is targeting some of the biggest names in basketball.

LeBron James, James Jones, and Chris Paul have been served with notices of deposition in connection with Hunter's lawsuit against the NBPA, ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss reports.

Paul serves as union president, James is vice president, and Jones holds the title of secretary treasurer with the NBPA. More players may also be served by Hunter's legal team, Strauss adds.

Hunter is seeking $10.5 million, in addition to attorney fees, on the grounds of wrongful termination in 2013. Hunter's suit alleges he has not received any severance pay.

Furthermore, Strauss reports that California Superior Court Judge Huey Cotton has ordered the NBPA to turn over documents relating to an investigation conducted by law firm Paul Weiss, which led to Hunter's dismissal.

That report found no evidence that Hunter illegally used union funds. However, it did reveal that Hunter withheld knowledge that his contract was never properly approved, used poor judgement with hiring practices, and spent improperly on travel and gifts.

In the meantime, the NBPA has also launched a countersuit against Hunter, although it does not present any novel claims.

The two sides have a hearing scheduled for Nov. 3.
