Pacers' Alex Poythress: Likely bound for D-League

Poythress is expected to join the Pacers' D-League affiliate, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, once training camp concludes, Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv reports.

Analysis:

As was expected when he inked a partially guaranteed deal two weeks earlier, Poythress won't be given a legitimate shot at making the Pacers' final roster since the team already has 15 guaranteed contracts on the books. However, the promise of a spot in the D-League at least puts Poythress in strong position to eventually earn a promotion to the NBA. The undrafted forward from Kentucky possesses a raw offensive game, but he still projects as a strong perimeter defender at the next level.
