Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Resumes practicing following foot surgery

Gasol (foot) indicated in a recent interview with Spanish newspaper L'Esportiu that he's been able to resume half-court practicing, Hoops Hype reports.

Analysis:

Gasol elaborated further on his condition in the interview, saying that he was a "couple of weeks away" from being cleared to suit up for the bronze medal-winning Spanish team in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. It sounds like Gasol is trending toward availability for the start of the Grizzlies' training camp in the fall and if health prevails, he should reemerge as a top-flight fantasy center after averaging 16.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steal per game over his 52 appearances in 2015-16. That said, betting on a 7-foot-1 player over 30 years old coming back from a serious foot injury is always a risky proposition, so it may be difficult for fantasy owners to justify selecting him around where his average draft position ultimately falls.
