Clippers' Paul Pierce: Will return for another season

Pierce will return to the Clippers for the 2016-17 season, Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Analysis:

Pierce had been mulling over his options since the start of the offseason and it had recently been reported that he was leaning towards coming back, so this news comes as little surprise. That said, Pierce doesn't figure to make much of an impact after averaging career lows of 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist across just 18.1 minutes per game this past season, and could see his role decline further as he heads into his age-39 campaign. The Clippers lack many standout options at small forward, so look for coach Doc Rivers to deploy a committee approach to the position consisting of Pierce, Wesley Johnson, and Luc Mbah a Moute.
