Rockets' Sam Dekker: Finishes summer league out on strong note

Dekker closed out the Las Vegas Summer League as the Rockets' third-leading scorer with an average of 14.4 points per game across five appearances. He also added 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 27.4 minutes per game.

Analysis:

Dekker, a first-round pick last season, appeared in just three games as a rookie after undergoing back surgery in November and then suffering a setback upon returning in March. Fortunately for the young forward, a second procedure wasn't deemed necessary, and he was fully cleared to play again in May. In addition to his strong scoring contributions, Dekker was very efficient, hitting 53.8 percent of his shots overall while going 9-for-23 (39.1%) from distance. Despite the excellent showing, Dekker might find himself out of the rotation when the season begins, as he'll have to compete with Trevor Ariza, Corey Brewer, Michael Beasley, and K.J. McDaniels for minutes at small forward.
