Pistons' Henry Ellenson: Signs rookie contract

Ellenson signed a rookie contract with the Pistons on Tuesday, MLive.com's David Mayo reports.

Analysis:

Ellenson, the No. 18 overall pick in the June draft, concluded a five-game stint in the Orlando Summer League earlier this month, during which he averaged 12.4 points (on 31% shooting from the field) and 7.4 rebounds in 29.4 minutes per game. The Pistons selected Ellenson with the belief that he'll eventually develop into a prototypical stretch four, but because his stroke from downtown remains fairly inconsistent, it's unlikely that he'll be a regular in the rotation as a rookie. With Marcus Morris, Tobias Harris and Jon Leuer all capable of manning the power forward spot, Ellenson figures to instead spend significant time honing his craft in the D-League this season.
