The Oklahoma City Thunder had the Golden State Warriors dead in the water in the Western Conference finals, holding a 3-1 series lead over the record-setting 73-win squad before losing in seven games.

Veteran swingman Andre Iguodala knows his Warriors were fortunate to escape with their playoff lives intact against such a formidable opponent - one he thinks should have gone all the way to hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy.

During a recent radio appearance, the former Finals Most Valuable Player gave the Thunder their due.

"Now that we got (Kevin Durant), I can say it: They were the best team last year in the league in the playoffs," Iguodala said. "They were better than us. They were better than Cleveland (Cavaliers). They were the best team in the playoffs. They should've won a championship."

So how exactly did the Warriors pull off the improbable?

"We locked them down," Iguodala added. "But they were better than us. They played us better than anybody. Better than Cleveland, they played us. They had our number. Some of the stuff they were doing, it's like, oh man. We got to play perfectly."

The Warriors eventually felt the heartache of blowing a 3-1 lead themselves, dropping three-straight games against the Cleveland Cavaliers to lose out on a second consecutive title.
