Heat's Haslem jokes he should've pulled a CP3, handcuffed Wade

Looking back, Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem admits he should've tried a little harder to prevent longtime teammate Dwyane Wade from signing with the Chicago Bulls this offseason.

"In hindsight, maybe I should have came in and pulled a Chris Paul and handcuffed (Wade) like they did DeAndre Jordan and made him change his mind," Haslem jokingly told ESPN's Michael Wallace. "I don't know if there was anything I could have done or should have done. But I felt like it could have been avoided."

Haslem is, of course, referring to last year's infamous free-agent fiasco, where Jordan opted to return to the Los Angeles Clippers after verbally agreeing to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

While Haslem ultimately feels that Wade's decision to leave South Beach could have been averted, according to Wallace, the 36-year-old admitted that Wade had become irritated with Heat management and those frustrations "came to a head" directly prior to his departure.

With former starters Luol Deng, Joe Johnson, and Wade all gone, the Heat will likely need to rely on several of their younger players next season as they look to return to the playoffs.
