LeBron thanks Duncan, calls him 'best PF ever'

LeBron James joined the long list of NBA players heaping praise on Tim Duncan following the San Antonio Spurs legend's retirement announcement Monday.

James took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the "best PF ever."

That's quite the compliment, especially coming from perhaps the best small forward ever.

The two have had epic battles on the court over the years. They met in the NBA Finals three times - in 2007, 2013, and 2014 - with Duncan's side taking two of three.

In March, LeBron surpassed Duncan for 14th on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Then in May, King James overtook The Big Fundamental to become the fifth-highest scorer in the playoffs. (James has since ascended to 11th in total scoring and fourth in postseason points).

The free agent, who's expected to return to the reigning champs, had previously bestowed the title on Duncan in January after the Spurs defeated the Cavs 99-95 at AT&T Center. It would be the last time they squared off on the hardwood.

Suffice to say, they're both among the best to ever play the game.
