Rockets' James Harden: Signs four-year contract extension

Harden restructured his contract with the Rockets on Saturday, agreeing to a four-year, $118.1 million deal, ESPN.com's Calvin Watkins reports.

Analysis:

The Rockets combatted the offseason departure of Dwight Howard by adding former Pelicans Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson to the roster, and will further attempt to secure the future of their franchise by keeping their star player in the fold through his prime years. Harden, 26, had two years remaining on his prior deal with the club, but the restructured contract will now keep him on the books through at least the 2019-20 season. Though last season was a disappointing one for the Rockets, Harden's production didn't suffer, as he led the NBA in minutes and posted career-best averages of 29.0 points and 7.5 assists per contest.
