Report: Warriors will pick up option on Livingston

Jayne Kamin-Oncea / USA TODAY Sports

Shaun Livingston will get the opportunity to play with perhaps the most talented NBA team ever assembled.

The Golden State Warriors have informed Livingston that they will pick up his team option worth $5.8 million for the upcoming season, sources tell ESPN's Marc Spears.

Livingston's team-friendly salary is even more apparent given the booming salary cap and the plethora of money that has been spent on the 2016 free-agent market thus far.

The 30-year-old, 11-year veteran averaged 6.3 points, three assists, and 2.2 rebounds on 53.6 percent shooting for the Warriors in 2015-16, once again emerging as one of the team's most dependable players come the postseason.

Livingston has never been much of a shooter, but he continues to punish smaller guards in the post and from the mid-range area on the offensive end, while remaining one of the better defensive point guards in the game.
