Free-agent center Ian Mahinmi has reached agreement with the Washington Wizards on a four-year contract worth $64 million.

The 29-year-old cashed in on a career year, averaging 9.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 blocks while starting 71 games for an Indiana Pacers team that got back to the playoffs and pushed the second-seeded Toronto Raptors to seven games.

Mahinmi isn't among the most mobile of big men, but he's a solid defensive force who should help tighten a Wizards defense that fell to 14th in efficiency this past season after ranking in the top five during the 2014-15 season.

Washington, which also agreed to a new five-year contract with Bradley Beal, adds Mahinmi to a frontcourt that also includes Markieff Morris and Marcin Gortat, and could use Mahinmi to replace unrestricted free agent Nene.
