Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Bass will opt out of the second year of his current deal, his representatives told Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

Bass signed a two-year contract with the Lakers last summer worth about $6.1 million including the opt-out clause. The power forward averaged 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 66 games off the bench this past season.

The 31-year-old said through his representatives that he wants to return to the Lakers. Like all NBA players this summer though, Bass will be hoping to cash in on the rising salary cap.
