Bulls' Butler: Hoiberg relationship 'on a pretty good page'

There was no hiding the tension between Jimmy Butler and first-year head coach Fred Hoiberg during the Chicago Bulls' tumultuous 2015-16 campaign - a relationship that took a turn for the worse after Butler called out the bench boss following a blowout defeat to the New York Knicks.

And while Butler will be the first to admit the two still have their differences, the 26-year-old believes things have improved considerably since his mid-December outburst.

"I think we're on a pretty good page right now," Butler told the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson. "I'm not going to say we're alike in every single way. But we both want to win. And we both have the team's best interest at heart. It's learning for both of us. I have to learn more about him. He has to learn more about me. That's what this summer is for. I'll sit down and have a beer with the guy."

Not only is Butler looking to mend his relationship with Hoiberg, but he's also working to become a better leader, a role that was new to him last season.

"I’m always learning. I always want to know how to get better. As long as I’m willing to take criticism, I’ll be fine," Butler added.
