Kyle O'Quinn keeps promise to parents by earning degree

For Mother's Day, New York Knicks center Kyle O'Quinn got his mom some parchment.

ESPN's Ian Begley reports the 26-year-old O'Quinn earned his diploma from Norfolk State over the weekend, fulfilling a promise he made to his parents in 2008.

"They were worried at times because I was 18, but it was an opportunity that my parents never had," O'Quinn said of Regina and his late father, Tommie. "It means a lot to my parents. It's good to make them proud."

The four-year senior earned two semesters worth of credits during his pro career through taking online courses and overloading during the summer.

"It took me a little time," O'Quinn said. "But just holding that promise to actually complete it, it feels good."
