Celtics' Jae Crowder: No offseason surgery needed on ankle

Celtics GM Danny Ainge said Wednesday that Crowder will not require offseason surgery on his sprained ankle, Scott Souza of the Providence Journal reports.

Analysis:

Crowder ended up playing in 12 of the Celtics' final 13 games in the regular season and playoffs after spraining his ankle in mid-March, but didn't look remotely like the same player the rest of the way. He averaged 11.1 points on an ugly 31.9 percent shooting from the floor, including a 23.9 percent mark from three-point range. Crowder may have tried to return too soon from the ankle injury, which Ainge also said included a bone bruise on his foot. Fortunately, Crowder was able to avoid aggravating the injury in a serious way upon returning, and looks like he'll just need to rest up and recover during the offseason in order to return to full health for the start of the 2016-17 campaign.
