Ex-Rocket Reid: 'Harden looks after Harden'

The hand-wringing over a failed Houston Rockets season continues along the Gulf Coast, and former Rockets star Robert Reid chimed in Monday, pointing the finger at James Harden.

"Harden is a tremendous player, but he's not bringing it for the team," Reid told KHOU-TV. "I'm sorry, I'm just going to say it. Harden looks after Harden."

The 60-year-old Reid, who averaged just under 12 points a game for the Rockets from 1977-88, then dated himself by suggesting the team's next coach threaten to bench the four-time All-Star.

"The new coach that they bring in here is the one that's going to have to say, 'I'm the one who gets fired if we don't win, not you. Do you feel lucky? Because your happy-jack behind will be at the end of the bench until you come to this game that we want to play.'"

The Rockets fell from 56 wins and Western Conference finalists in 2014-15 to a .500 record and a first-round exit this season. Harden regressed defensively amid widespread reports of tension with teammate Dwight Howard.
