Report: Heat to sign Dorell Wright

The Miami Heat are reportedly making a roster addition at the 11th hour.

With less than a week until the playoffs start, the Heat will sign combo forward Dorell Wright, according to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel.

Wright has been drawing interest from NBA teams since his season with North Control Beijing of the Chinese Basketball Association ended in early March, but the Heat reportedly inquired about him as early as January.

An 11-year NBA vet, Wright is an able defender and strong 3-point shooter. He led the league in long-range makes in 2010-11 with the Golden State Warriors. He played 48 games for the Portland Trail Blazers last season, averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting 38 percent from deep.

Wright would mark the second late-season pickup on the wing for the Heat, who also scooped up a bought-out Joe Johnson at the playoff-eligibility deadline six weeks ago. Wright would be eligible to be on Miami's postseason roster, since he wasn't on an NBA roster past March 1. Getting him up to speed and comfortable with the team's system between now and then is another matter.

The 30-year-old averaged 24.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in Beijing this season.
