Gibson (ribs) will be shut down for the final two games of the Bulls' season, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

Gibson has missed the last six games with a cracked rib, and had been considered unlikely to return during the regular season all along. The Bulls' elimination from postseason contention Sunday all but sealed Gibson's fate, and now rookie Bobby Portis and second-year forward Nikola Mirotic will be in line to see increased time in the frontcourt over the last two contests. The Bulls, who have also shut down Pau Gasol (knee) and E'Twaun Moore (hamstring), play the Pelicans on Monday before finishing out their schedule at home against the 76ers on Wednesday.
